This painting is titled the Monarch’s Course, Gleneagles. The course was designed by renowned golfer Jack Nicklaus, and was renamed  The PGA Centenary Course in 2001.

Fresh, lively and thoughtfully composed, this small gouache study is a must for any golfer who appreciates fine painting, golf course design and the beauty of a Scottish landscape.

Your eye is initially drawn toward the group of coniferous trees left of centre, then moves to the distant hills to the foreground shadow where two golfers are making their way to the green which is surrounded by ominous bunkers.

Jack Nicklaus – PGA Centenary Course

The Monarch’s Course at Gleneagles was designed by the great golfer Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1993. It was renamed  The PGA Centenary Course in 2001. As the longest inland course in Scotland at nearly 7,300 yards, it is a premier stadium-style course that hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup. It is respected and admired for its championship layout and dramatic Perthshire scenery. 
Jack Nicklaus described the PGA Centenary course as the “finest parcel of land in the world I’ve been given to work with”.
