Italy

Over the years I’ve built up a wide collection of scenes of Italy. Paintings and Prints of Tuscany form part of my growing collection. This watercolour painting is titled View from San Gimignano. This view was one of the first studio paintings I did after our first visit to San Gimignano in 1999.

The February light was fading. Having painted one watercolour in the town centre, I knew I didn’t have enough time to paint anything else. Instead I wandered around taking photographs from the town, looking across the countryside. This view caught my attention. Back in the studio, I painted this scene and it became a best selling print.
