Artist Support Pledge
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been selling specially selected paintings as part of the Artist Support Pledge. Today’s is a Painting of Tuscany.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support and gallery work. Exhibitions and sales have disappeared.
In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress, an artist called Martin Burrows has instigated the ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE #artistsupportpledge
The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work, on Instagram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping).
Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artists work.
Italy
Over the years I’ve built up a wide collection of scenes of Italy. Paintings of Tuscany form part of my growing collection. This watercolour painting is titled View from San Gimignano. This view was one of the first studio paintings I did after our first visit to San Gimignano in 1999.
The February light was fading. Having painted one watercolour in the town centre, I knew I didn’t have enough time to paint anything else. Instead I wandered around taking photographs from the town, looking across the countryside. This view caught my attention. Back in the studio, I painted this scene and it became a best selling print.
