An Original Waterrcolour
Over the years I’ve painted many different scenes of Grey Street in all kinds of seasons. Winter seems to resonate with my customers. I also delight in capturing Grey Streets wonderful architecture with the amazing contrasts that winter offers.
When Grey Street has a fresh sky fall of snow, then you also have heavily clad figures moving carefully across the perilous surface. This provides intriguing contrasts, dark against white and figurative against the elegant Georgian architecture.

In February 2018 I was in Newcastle for a business meeting at 8am. The Beast from the East had struck the region depositing further snow. For a short while, the pavements were white before the morning commuters trod multiple footprints across the virgin snow.
This new watercolour titled “Grey Street, Skyfall” captures that morning which also heralded in a new season for me. Within a few days of the Beast from the East leaving, I started part time work for the North East Charity Junction 42, working with ex offenders in the community and teaching art in the regions prisons.
