An exhibition of paintings inspired by the Lindisfarne Gospels and Holy Island starts 25-28th July at St Mary’s Church Hall, Ponteland. 12 artists from the Network Artists, Ponteland Hub will be showcasing their work including yours truly.
Over the last few weeks I’ve made a couple of trips to Holy Island to do some paintings “plein air” of different aspects of Lindisfarne including the causeway and the statue of Aidan.
Also on show is this new watercolour of St Mary’s Church, Ponteland which is also available as a limited edition print. It’s a view similar to the one I would look at from my studio window when I had my own studio and gallery in Ponteland village. We first opened the studio there in 2003. We left in July 2008 when our new studio was open in our home 17 Cheviot View, Ponteland.
I’ve had several clients buying this limited edition print as a wedding present for folk who get married there. It’s an attractive scene for a wedding. Passer byes will often stop to look at the bride and groom pose for photographs on the village green.
