Warkworth Autumn is an original watercolour painted on location one autumn. It was a bright sunny morning. The brightness of the sun brought out the wonderful autumnal colours which were further enhanced as they were reflected in the River Coquet.
It was one of those peaceful mornings where you really appreciate being able to sit outside and paint. Rather than focus on Warkworth Castle, I chose to go for broad, lively brush strokes to capture the bright and varied colours of the trees.

River Coquet
Warkworth Autumn is an original watercolour painted on location one autumn. Warkworth Castle is often the focal point when painting this scene from the banks of the river Coquet. However, on this occasion my intention was to capture (in a very lively way) the wonderful autumnal colours.
Autumn
Quick, bold brush strokes loaded with ochres and reds were used to contrast the cool blue of the sky reflected in the tranquil river.
