Prints and original paintings of Ponteland can be found from our collection. The church of St Mary has stood in the middle of Ponteland for almost a thousand years, and we believe Christians worshipped on this site before then. The world has changed a huge amount in that time, but the Christian faith is just as relevant now as it was then.
I spent many hours enjoying this view of St Mary the Virgin Church, Ponteland when I had my old studio in the village above to Rialtos Restaurant. From here I could see the church behind the village green.
There have been a number of times when I have been commissioned to paint this scene as a wedding present for young couples getting married in the church building.
In this particular watercolour the Norman church is captured in late afternoon autumn sunlight.
