Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support and gallery work.
Exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress Martin Burrows has instigated the ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE #artistsupportpledge
The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work, on Instagram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping).
Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artist’s work.

An Original Watercolour painted on location on one of my painting trips to Norfolk. I was looking into the late afternoon sunlight which was sparkling white on the distant sea.

Two of my most memorable and productive painting trips have been to Norfolk. I have really felt as though I have been following in the footsteps of one of my painting heroes, Edward Seago. On the last trip which was 10 years ago, we stayed at Burnham Every Staithe. I would usually rise early to paint by the creek and do two paintings. One would be on a block, the other in my sketchbook. . I’d switch from one to the other as the paint was drying. On one of the afternoons we went to Heacham which is known for its Lavender Fields.

Provence

I’ve always wanted to paint Lavender Fields ever since an artist friend showed me his pastels of Lavender Fields in Provence. I  remember seeing a suitable field near Heacham. I positioned myself to do a couple of paintings, looking into the late afternoon sunlight. Shafts of sunlight were sparkling on the distant sea, breaking through the cloudy sky.
