Beadnell Harbour Print

£65.00

Limited Edition Print

I’ve been to this quaint little harbour on the Northumbrian coast several times.

Sitting on the harbour wall and capturing the small fishing boats in my sketchbook is always a lovely way to soak up the atmosphere of a place.

We are delighted with the limited edition print of Beadnell Harbour, Northumberland. Beadnell Bay is part our favourite walk from Seahouses to Low Newton-by-the-Sea, especially when the Artic Terns are busy collecting Sandeels, and are being so very noisy.  It is a beautiful area, captured perfectly in your artwork.  The artwork has also been tastefully mounted and framed.  Thank you for taking such care with the packaging – it arrived in perfect condition and we couldn’t be happier.

Beadnell Harbour

Read about Alan paintings at Beadnell on his painting blog.

On Friday evening Susan and I set off for a weekend break with two of our grandchildren at Breakwater Cottage in Seahouses. The weather was fantastic the whole time and I was able to snatch a couple of hours painting on location at Beadnell Harbour. Beadnell Harbour Prints are now for sale at Alan Reed Gallery in Ponteland. What made the experience of painting “plein air” even more pleasurable was seeing a shoal of dolphins feeding remarkably close to the shoreline.

I had already primed a 14″ x 10″ watercolour block with a wash of cadmium lemon before arriving to the scene which saved me a good thirty minutes of drying time. This enabled me to crash on with the sky and sea as the sun was starting to set quite quickly. Once that had dried I could knock in the boats and the harbour wall just before the sun went down. I returned the following evening to add a few more extra details to the wall and boats. This study will prove to be an excellent source of inspiration for future paintings I may tackle of Beadnell Harbour.

Beadnell is a small village set at the end of a sheltered, horseshoe-shaped beach called Beadnell Bay. This sweeping crescent of beach is fun for everyone, with golden sand perfect for sand castle building, beach cricket, and water sports.
