Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support and gallery work.   Artists post images of their work, on Instagram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping).   Once I sell sell 5 of my paintings, I pledge to buy another artists work for £200.

This generous strategy has been successful in helping artists worldwide.  Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artists work.

Grappa

Grappa is made from pomace aka the skins, seeds and stems left over from winemaking. Sure, it may sound like grappa is basically made from the scraps of wine but that’s not the case. “It is a tradition that is typical of ‘Italian thrift’, because you don’t waste anything”. Many people think of pomace as the waste from winemaking but the skin is the best part of the grape – it has the most aroma and flavors.

Grappa has a higher ABV (alcohol by volume) than wine. Wine has an average ABV of 12% while grappa must be between 35-60% in order to be sold; most clock in around 37.5%. By comparison, vodka, rum and tequila are generally 40%.

Using the right grappa glass is key. A good grappa glass is generally tall and narrow with a slightly wider opening at the top, to allow for the aromas to be enjoyed.
