Kielder Castle

Original price was: £975.00.Current price is: £780.00.

In 2003 I received a painting commission to paint over a dozen north east castles. Kielder Castle was one of the castles the client wanted. I spread the commissions over the year, so the winter months was when I decided to paint Kielder Castle.

I had been to Kielder when I lectured at South Tyneside College. We took a class of pupils there for a residential where they had great fun doing archery and canoeing on Kielder Reservoir.

On this occasion though, the trip was to gather reference for the painting commission. Once I had the reference, I painted this small 14″ x 10″ preparation watercolour. I was so pleased with the result, I kept the larger watercolour very similar in terms of colour and composition.
