Deia, Mallorca

An original watercolour painting on handmade paper.

A commissions of a client’s property in Pollenca, Mallorca in the spring of 2023 led to further commissions of this delightful Spanish island. We returned later in the year to explore further. We took the local bus from Palma to Deia after receiving a further commission to paint this idyllic village.

I realised that I was in the company of great creative figures from the world of art, music, fashion, film and literature who have been drawn to Deia. It’s a place where their minds can process their ideas, thoughts and dreams. Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote some of his Broadway musicals and other musicians like the Beatles, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix have all spent time in Deia.

We spent a very pleasant few hours wandering about, exploring different views including a view from a very nice hotel.

Sketchbook watercolours and photographs were the inspiration for this A4 size watercolour painting of this very peaceful small coastal village.
