Casalalta Original Prints Umbria | Pictures of Umbria Italy – Alan Reed
Paintings of Umbria Italy
The long winding road of this typical Italian scene in Umbria that takes you up to the hotel Relais il Canalicchio has some breathtaking views, and this is one of them.
I sat by the side of the road and painted a small watercolour sketch of Casalalta on the spot which formed the basis for this larger studio work.

Casalalta is a frazione of the comune of Collazzone in the Province of Perugia, Umbria, central Italy. It stands at an elevation of 325 metres above sea level. At the time of the Istat census of 2001 it had 60 inhabitants.
Over the years, my Paintings of Casalalta Umbria Italy have resonated with many customers. Particularly those who have properties there. I’ve been very fortunate to have received a number of commissions of Italy.
This enabled me to go out and paint original paintings of clients homes throughout this beautiful region. It’s described as the “Green Heart of Italy”.
Often with my Paintings of Italy and Umbria, I deliberately choose to use a limited palatte to create mood and atmosphere. I will then refer back to my studies painted on location. This ensures that I retain the lively brush marks and looseness of the original sketch. This studio painting of Via Roma follows that pattern. There’s a strong feeling of light and movement running throughout the painting, even in the shadow areas.
This is one of several Paintings of Umbria that will go on display for my Christmas Exhibition later on this year. Please sign up to our newsletter to receive updates on new paintings and events.
