Buckingham Palace with Gold Leaf – Original Oil Painting

£4,000.00

Painting on Gold Leaf is a rewarding experience. I’ve painted a number of works on Gold Leaf including a portrait of my wife Susan.

For this scene of Buckingham Palace viewed from Green Park, I’ve chosen to adopt an Art Deco style using just 6 colours. The gold leaf acts as an extra colour providing a strong light source for the foreground shadows.

Painting on 22 carat Gold Leaf

Oil Painting on Gold Leaf is a rewarding experience. I’ve enjoyed painting a number of works on Gold Leaf including a portrait of my wife Susan. And this one of Buckingham Palace Autumn is also a fine example.

For this scene of Buckingham Palace on Gold Leaf viewed from Green Park, London  I’ve chosen to adopt an Art Deco style using just 6 colours. The gold leaf acts as an extra colour providing a strong light source for the foreground shadows.

Painting on gold leaf creates effects which can change quite dramatically depending on the lighting. This can bring an almost 3D quality to the painting, especially when viewed with a spotlight. This is an interesting feature which delight the viewer.

Buckingham Palace Original Painting

In the oil painting of “Buckingham Palace from Green Park” I decided to use my limited edition print of the same scene as a basis for the idea. However, instead of using a wider range of tones and colours, I chose to use just 6 colours. These colours are in a flat art deco style. Leaving the gold leaf itself as an extra colour for the sky and reflections and highlights in the foreground.

The overall effect of Gold Leaf is both engaging and dramatic particularly of this Painting Buckingham Palace Autumn. You get a strong sense of light and warmth coming through from the sky. This is emphasised by the shadows being cast by the trees and the lamp post. I’ve stylised the Painting of Buckingham Palace to simplify it as there is a lot going on with the leaves, architecture and trees.
