Jebel Akhdar
I was delighted to discover that my painting of “Jebel Akhdar, Oman” was recently selected by the Royal Watercolour Society for their Competition 2013. I was even more thrilled that it won “The Artist’s Prize”. The Artist’s Magazine has asked me to be one of their featured artists later on in the year. In the article I will be answering questions about my painting career.
Bankside Gallery
The painting formed part of the Royal Watercolour Society competition exhibition at the Bankside gallery, London and will be on display at my Studio and Gallery in Ponteland from noon on 9th March.
Since writing this post, I’ve sold the original watercolour, however it is available as a limited edition print. In September 2018 I was fortunate to return to Jebel Akhdar where we stayed at the stunning Anantara Hotel. I was able to revisit the scene I painted for the original. On one of the mornings I went on a tour guide to some of the small deserted villages that you can see in the painting.
Oman is a country that is rich in history and a delight for any artist wanting inspiration. I’ve been fortunate to travel there many times and receive some fascinating painting commissions. I’m hooping to return there again soon.
