Norfolk
My trip to Norfolk proved to be a mini inspirational homage to one of my painting heroes Edward Seago. Like Seago, I was captivated by the distinctive flat landscape and “big skies” punctuated by windmills, sailing vessels and trees.
Before the family woke up I would rise early in the morning . Painting directly, without any preparatory pencil drawing. I painted into my handmade sketchbook and Arches watercolour block.
Tower Windmill
A converted windmill, this bunkhouse offers accommodation for 19 people and is the perfect place for a family holiday. Built by John Savory in 1816, it was last used as a corn mill in 1914. The mill stands alone and has spectacular views over the north Norfolk coast and surrounding countryside. Within easy reach of the Norfolk Coastal Path, it is the ideal place from which to go bird watching, crabbing or enjoy the beaches. Brancaster Beach, owned by the National Trust, is close by as well as Brancaster Estate saltmarshes and Blakeney Point is further east along the coast.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support and gallery work. Exhibitions and sales have disappeared.
In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress Martin Burrows has instigated the ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE
The concept is a simple one. Artists post images of their work, on Instagram which they are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping).
Once I sell sell 5 of my paintings, I pledge to buy another artists work for £200.
This generous strategy was initiated by Matthew Burrows @matthewburrowsstudio and it has been successful in helping artists worldwide.
Anyone can buy the work. Every time an artist reaches £1000 of sales, they pledge to spend £200 on another artists work.
