Alnmouth is a small village situated on the Northumbrian coast. After viewing the rooms in the property, I wandered around the estuary that the property overlooks. I felt inspired to paint some new scenes to compliment the ones I already had.

With its colourful houses, wildlife aplenty, and tranquil beach, Alnmouth sits within one of Northumberland’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There’s always an opportunity to appreciate the coastline here, be it walking, cycling, or horse riding.
The Northumberland Coast has 40 miles of natural beauty. Internationally acclaimed for its distinctive character, striking beauty and outstanding wildlife, there is so much to see and do along Northumberland’s coastal AONB. Walk or cycle the Northumberland Coast Path, paddle past castles on SUP boards or kayaks, and spot puffins on boat and diving trips.

Visit Alnmouth
Pastel coloured houses strung along the River Aln welcome you to Alnmouth. Alnmouth has a vast diversity of bird and wildlife species, and a stunning sandy tranquil beach. This is where the River Aln meets the North Sea. There is no question why this village is named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
When you’re in Alnmouth, be sure to visit The Ferryman’s Hut, the smallest museum in Northumberland. This bite-size bit of history was originally used by ferrymen when they would row passengers back and forth across the River Aln. The last ferryman was believed to have stopped working in the 1960s. The museum is donned with pictures and stories of him and his predecessors.
For the keen golfer Alnmouth Golf Club, the 4th oldest golf club in England. Established in 1869 lies in the magnificent Foxton Bay, with views to Coquet Island and widely over the Northumberland coast.
Alnmouth’s beautiful beaches are waiting to be explored. You can roam on foot, via the St Oswald’s Way and North Sea Trail routes, or bike on the Coast and Castles cycle route, to truly appreciate the beauty of the Northumberland coastline. Enjoy the landscape with views of St Cuthbert’s Cross or the steep Church Hill. Relax with art and a coffee at The Old School Gallery, there is something in Alnmouth for everyone.
