Christmas Exhibition to Celebrate 35 Years

This October marks my 35th Anniversary of being a professional artist. To celebrate this landmark, we will be having our Christmas Exhibition Preview Weekend at our Studio and Gallery in Ponteland on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of November.

Our Christmas Exhibition reflects the journey Susan and I have been on throughout our marriage and time in business together. Paintings of Italy feature heavily, as do scenes of the north east and Scotland. We’ve been very fortunate to travel to Oman over the last 12 years, so there will also be a selection of paintings of Oman too.

The Theatre Royal in Winter (above) which features my eldest granddaughter, is still a popular print. Copies will be available to purchase.

Painting Holidays in Italy

Our Painting Holidays in Italy continue to be a hit with our guests. Due to demand, we added a second week in September. As a result, both weeks this year were fully booked. There are only a handful of rooms available for our June week in 2020, so book early to avoid disappointment. On our day trips, we travel around Umbria and visit Tuscan towns too. Guests enjoy the opportunity to learn how to paint and to have great meals cooked by wonderful local chefs. The positive feedback we receive every year makes it all worthwhile.

Painting Commissions on Gold Leaf

I’ve had a number of interesting painting commissions over the last few years including several on gold leaf. This is quite a departure from watercolours but it’s very rewarding. The results can be fascinating as the gold leaf takes on all kinds of different effects depending the lighting conditions of the room. There will be a number of scenes painted with gold leaf including this one above of the Angel at Sunset.

In October this year, I completed a commission of Newcastle’s Quayside painted on gold leaf. I will be writing about this on a future blog post.
