This short video on YouTube shows just a few of my sketchbook watercolours which I’ve painted on location in Italy. Its not important whether you are an absolute beginner, no painting experience or a more advanced artist. I have over 30 years experience in teaching art. Some of our guests return year after year to Learn to Paint and also to enjoy the delights of Italy. Some guests don’t paint at all but join us for a wonderful holiday. We will take you to wonderful hilltop towns like Assisi, Perugia and Gubbio. My wife Susan is fluent in Italian so she likes to accompany those guests who like to go shopping!

We’ve been travelling to Italy together for 28 years. It’s lovely to be able to share our experiences of this wonderful country to our guests. Throughout the week I give demonstrations in watercolour so that guests can Learn to Paint. I’m a great believer in travelling light when it comes to painting “en plein air” so you really need very little equipment to get started. A few pencils, brushes, a box of watercolours and a good sketchbook is really all you need to get going. Paintings like Todi and Montone are the product of my sketchbook watercolours painted on location in Umbria.
