Last night was the preview evening for the charity exhibition “INDEPENDENCE” It was to raise money for the north east charity OWN IT. The evening was a great success with over 100 guests attending the CastleGate. The Castlegate is the home for City Church, Newcastle.
I was delighted that so many came to view the paintings and to take part in the charity auction. The turbine hall is a vast space to fill. It takes considerable time and energy to pull together the display boards and paintings to put on a show. However once everything is in place, it’s very satisfying to see all the paintings grouped together.
Subjects ranged from local views of Newcastle to the north east coast. There were watercolours of Arabian dhows and Oman. These were contrasted with a smattering of scenes inspired by our trips to Italy.
High Bridge Street
There were some great prizes being auctioned on the night. Several paintings were sold including the two of Newcastle. One was similar of this scene of High Bridge Street. Also we sold this one. It’s available as a limited edition print titled Dunstanburgh Castle, November afternoon.
The Independence exhibition continues ever day this week. Opening times are 10am-6pm, Tuesday to Friday and Saturday 10am-4pm.
