Les Secrets by Sherree Valentine-Daines

Henley Royal Regatta

I first came accross the outstanding figurative paintings of Sherree Valentine-Daines back in 1996. We both exhibited our paintings in the Stewards Enclosure of the Henley Royal Regatta. I always used to make a point of seeking out her paintings every time I used to go to Henley for Regatta week. She would paint the visitors all dressed up. The men in their smart blazers and hats. The women would wear beautiful summer dresses and outrageous hats. Susan and I would join in with the occasion and blend in with the crowds.

Figurative Paintings

Since then, I have started to purchase some of her limited edition giclee prints. They have proved to be very popular. Editions tend to sell out very quickly.

This giclee print on canvas titled ‘Les Secrets’ is an edition of 195 and is now sold out. It depicts two young ladies, probably sisters, enjoying a drink together. The figures have been beautifully observed and rendered with economical brush strokes. It’s a tribute to the distinctive skills of Sherree Valentine-Daines.

Portraits

Ammended April 2022: Since I first wrote this blog post, the print above by Sherree Valentine-Daines is no longer available. We currently don’t have any prints by Sherree Valentine-Daines available from our Gallery in Ponteland. However we do have a number of portraits and figure studies available.

When I first began my career as an artist in 1984, I focused on watercolour. Most of my paintings were cityscapes, landscapes and seascapes. Over the last decade I have ventured into more figurative painting in oils. I’m now equally as comfortable in oils as I am in watercolour.
