So many contrasts in one painting! You have the languid, relaxed, sunny morning, somehow epitomised in the flag. Then you have the permanence of the historic buildings with both an optimistic stateliness and a kind of foreboding one.

Then you have the no-nonsense bustle of folk swiftly moving to work, united in their haste yet alone. And then this lovely little group of pigeons pecking away.

It's a stunning painting Alan. You should be nationally recognised!

St Mark's Square, Venice, Italy

Just received the print of St Marks Square. Thank you so much - it is perfect. And following our discussion re. frames, I'm really grateful that you managed to source the gold for me. The print is my 'something thoughtful' gift for my Husband's 40th, who has memories of Aerobics at 5am in a similarly quiet St Marks Square when the boat he was on with the Royal Navy stopped there some 20 years ago! I received Victoria Street this afternoon and it's just so perfect. My wee red car's in it too!  I know "my" Alan will love it. It's so good to know I have a wedding present for him that is just right and has such special meaning to us both.

I received my framed print and my husband Gordon and I are delighted with the print and the quality of the framing.  We just can't stop looking at it.  Our next buy will definitely be the Forth Bridge floating in the mist....something we have seen in real life.  I will be in touch later on that one.

Many thanks for the complimentary 'Theatre Royal at night' print.I am a great fan of your work and first came across it a few years ago when in Newcastle. I bought a print of  Central Arcade, as I always loved the Arcade when I was growing up. I was brought up in Darras Hall and moved to London when I was 18. The Central Arcade picture I ordered from you last month is a wedding present for one of my best friends, who grew up in Medburn. Although most of us from school are now down here, we visit the North East when possible. The whole package of the Newcastle, Northumberland, the people, football on match days can't be found anywhere else in the world.I hope to visit your gallery when up there later in the year.

Rugby v Durham School

Just to let you know that we are really pleased with the " Rugby v. Durham School" painting we ordered from you a few weeks ago. We have bought it for our son's 18th birthday as he is the Rugby School "no. 7"  holding the ball in the painting! We did have an email about the painting through the school a while ago, but couldn't afford it at the time and we weren't sure if Matthew would really want it, he then happened to mention how nice the painting was and how he would love to have a print of it, so i hoped you had some left and bought it quick! Matthew was a awarded a sports scholarship to the school and his place there is also funded by the Arnold Foundation. It was an honour for him to take part in this tournament, and as much an honour for you to have immortalised this moment for him in this beautiful watercolour.

City Retreat, Newcastle

Alan is a delightful person and a truly talented artist, I currently have two of Alan's paintings and I have also commissioned Alan to paint a winter scene of the front of my business `City Retreat in the Snow` which we have used as the picture on our company christmas card, I think it`s amazing. His gallery in Ponteland has beautiful array of his own and other artists painting on display this coupled with the warm welcome and the hospitality received form both himself and his lovely wife Susan make a visit very worthwhile. Also the `Own Art` Scheme which allows you to purchase your piece over a period of time `interest free` is a great help. Keep up the good work Alan.

Bamburgh Beach Original Painting

We have three of Alan's paintings of Edinburgh and I commissioned him to paint a view our home in the Tyne Valley. The Edinburgh paintings have pride of place in our hall and the commissioned picture sits above our dining room fireplace. Thames Sunrise

Thank you so much for your prompt response. We worked in the City of London and on the Thames (my husband was a Tug captain) for most of our working lives and you are quite right the skyline has changed - but your paintings of the river and the city under a "moody" sky is still a typical scene enjoyed by so many Londeners every day of their working lives as they cross Waterloo Bridge.Dear Alan

Durham in Winter
