Flatiron Building New York Watercolour Print | New York Watercolours Paintings and Prints – Alan Reed

Flatiron Building New York

Originally the Fuller Building. It is a triangular 22-story, 285-foot tall steel-framed landmarked building located at 175 Fifth Avenue in the neighbourhood of the borough of Manhattan, New York City.

The estimated price tag is $190 million. The Flatiron Building holds far greater worth to its fellow New Yorkers. Also tourists due to its history and symbolic importance to the history of the city.

Getting inside the Flatiron building is not that easy. You can enter the lobby but can‘t go upstairs into the offices. The views from the Flatiron onto Madison Square Park and Broadway are really quite good.

Built as the headquarters of the Fuller Construction company, the skyscraper was meant to be named Fuller Building. However the locals soon dubbed it ‘Flatiron‘ after its unusual shape, caused by the triangular plot. Wikipedia

We travelled to America see our youngest granddaughter Anya just 2 weeks after she was born.

After spending time in St Louis, we spent several days in New York City. It was an amazing time. Armed with my sketchbook, I made several studies of some of its famous landmarks. I had to have a go at painting the Empire State Building. The view I chose was from the Top of the Rock, the observation deck at the Rockefeller Building.
